What are the 2026 Canadian and Ontario tax brackets?

Federal rates run from 14% on the first $58,523 of taxable income up to 33% over $258,482. Ontario rates run from 5.05% on the first $52,886 up to 13.16% over $220,000, with a provincial surtax on top. Your marginal rate is the rate on your next dollar of income, while your average rate determines your net income and take-home pay.

  • Maximum pensionable earnings: $74,600
  • Basic exemption: $3,500
  • Max employee contribution: $4,230.45
  • CPP2 ceiling: $85,000 (4% on earnings above YMPE)

Employment Insurance (EI)

  • Employee rate: $1.63 per $100
  • Maximum insurable earnings: $68,900
  • Max employee premium: $1,123.07
